Latest on Covid Inquiry as Vallance notes describe ‘meek as mice’ Cabinet and Johnson ‘bamboozled’ by graphs

The UK’s former chief scientific adviser Sir Patrick Vallance has been giving evidence to the Covid inquiry today.

He told the inquiry that former prime minister Boris Johnson was “bamboozled” by data shown to him in the early days of the pandemic, and that it was “awful” trying to explain statistics and graphs to him at times.

He also said that former health secretary Matt Hancock would tell untruths because of “over-enthusiasm” and desire to make statements before he had the full evidence.
